THERESA WEST, Choral Music Accompanist
Theresa West is a native Kansan, born in Wichita. As a Junior in high school, she won a piano competition between other high school students among 5 southwestern states. She performed an arrangement of a Bach chorale, “Sheep May Safely Graze.” It was a defining moment and the piece became a lasting favorite for her and her family.
Theresa obtained a B.A. in Piano Performance at California State University at Chico. After college, she traveled with a gospel group, Jubilation Ministries, out of Sedalia, Missouri, for two years. She taught Yamaha Music School for four years, and has continued to teach private piano as well, for 40 years.
Theresa is married to Mark West, associate pastor at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene. They celebrate 31 years of marriage. She has 4 children and 7 grand-children. She has been involved in Worship Arts Programming at various churches for the last 30 years.
She looks forward to working with vocalists and helping them cultivate their skills. She enjoys a broad spectrum of styles, loves arranging and improvisation.
